Everything you need to know about preparing for your wedding makeup
For the Trial:
Don’t wait till the last minute, book your trial soon, as there will be more flexibility and availability, especially before the wedding season.
You have been working hard on planning your wedding, you don’t want to leave any regrets, so we highly recommend you to take your time and think about what you want to look like on your wedding day.
TIPs:
a) while searching the desired makeup looks, try to find some that have similar face shape, eye shape, and skin tone with yours, it will help to get an idea about the style and colour that suits you the best.
b) It is risky to try something new for your wedding. If old Hollywood glam is not something you are into, you won’t feel like yourself if you do Hollywood glam. If you always have your hair down, most likely you will feel more comfortable to have your hair down on your wedding. When you look back on your wedding day, you want to feel like yourself, a better version of yourself, not someone else.
Bring reference images to your trial, or send it to us beforehand. Try to identify what you like about the make-up and/or hair in the image. It is the best way to get everyone on the same page.
If you plan to have spray tan on your wedding, it would be ideal to have the same shade on the trial day, so you can see how the makeup will look on you.
Before Wedding:
Exfoliate your Skin: please use gentle exfoliating products. Makeup sitting on top of dead skin will make it looks heavier. Please do NOT to exfoliate your skin the night before the wedding, try to do it three to five days before the wedding depending on your skin type. This will allow your skin to accept the makeup without any redness on the wedding day.
Exfoliate your lips: Keep them scrubbed with a sugar scrub and then use lip balm as a pre-lipstick ritual.
Mask It Up: If you have oily skin, try a purifying clay mask. If your skin is dry, use a hydrating mask to moisturize and plump. Do not use any masks or cosmetics that you do not normally use the night before the wedding. It may cause skin problems.
No NEW skincare products: please do NOT use NEW skincare products including new masks the night before the wedding. You will run the risk of breakouts and irritation.
Beauty sleep: The best thing you can do at this point is to get some shut-eye—you’ve done your work, now take some time to relax (or at least try to). So you can avoid dark circles.
Hydrate: Your skin needs a lot of moisture, Drink lots of water too, but only in the day, as drinking plenty of water at night will cause water retention. If you're really thirsty, limit yourself to one to two sips.
Wedding Day:
If you want to or if you have your favourite skincare products, please apply basic skin cosmetics ONLY, like toner, lotion, and a little bit of face and eye cream. Do NOT overly apply moisture cream before application of makeup. It will make the foundation ‘slip and slide’, and can make the skin look too shiny. ‘A little dab’ll do ya’.
Try NOT to apply any functional cosmetics, these may make your base makeup cakey.
Try NOT to apply sun cream that will react to the flash of camera as some sun creams will pale you out.
Please wear any clothes that can be easily taken off and on, so it doesn’t smug the makeup when you need to get changed.
